SOILS TREATED WITH THE SNS 360 SYSTEM
SOIL STABILIZATION
It can be defined as the modification of the mechanical properties and behavior of the soil, in such a way that it transforms it into a suitable material for the construction of roads.
This transformation, in the case of the SNS 360 System, is also irreversible, which differentiates it from the traditional "improved" ones. By irreversible we mean that it cannot be altered by the action of chemical or mechanical agents and that its effectiveness remains over time.
THE SNS 360 SYSTEM IS A NATURAL PROCESS
It works by promoting an improvement in mechanical properties, accelerating the attraction of particles and their compaction, which normally occur under certain conditions over a long period of time, observing that the necessary conditions are maintained so that they do not vary.
THE SYSTEM IS UNIQUE
There are traditionally two types of products to treat soils for road purposes:
- Products that bind the particles physically (Ex: soil - cement)
- Products that react chemically with the soil (Ex: soil - salt)
The products that physically bind the particles have the problem of forming rigid structures.
Although in practice it is said that the SNS 360 System is applicable to all types of soil, there are extreme cases where the system might not be applicable, such as sand or highly organic soil. In these cases as in all cases, it will be the results of the laboratory tests what determine its viability and best application.
INNOVATION
THE SNS 360 SYSTEM IS NOT A SINGLE PRODUCT THAT MODIFIES ALL THE CHARACTERISTICS AND PROCESSES OF THE WHOLE POSSIBLE SPECTRUM OF SOILS, BUT A SYSTEM OF PRODUCTS, WHERE EACH ONE WORKS PRODUCING DIFFERENT EFFECTS, IN DIFFERENT SOILS AND IN DIFFERENT CIRCUMSTANCES. IN THIS WAY, THE SNS 360 SYSTEM IS CONFIGURED AND DOSED TO PRODUCE THE BEST RESULT.
APPLICABLE TO ALL TYPES OF SOILS
The SNS 360 System does not act as a binder or react with thee soil elements, which gives it unique properties, as it can be applied to a wide range of soils, from non-plastic to highly plastic soils. It also has the property of being able to break and reconnect, which facilitates maintenance tasks and makes any breakage or cracking produced by external agents, which is not of great magnitude, can be repaired only by the action of traffic itself.
For this reason, it is said that stabilization with the SNS 360 System is irreversible and that even after mechanical shredding it does not lose its properties and can be perfectly reconciled.
HIGHER CBR VALUES
A very important result of treating a soil with the SNS 360 System is the increase in its resistance caused first by the NLF action and then reinforced by the NPF application.
In the following image you can see a table of the modification of the relative support value (CBR of the soils when they are treated with the SNS 360 System.
As can be seen, the CBR of a soil has increased, in most cases, between 25 to 100% of its original value when treated with the SNS 360 System, and can reach up to 500% more in certain soils, especially with NPF use.
Based on all the experience accumulated in all these years in which the SNS 360 System has been being applied, it can be estimated as a general rule that:

This rule is not absolute, there are many cases where starting with soils with a lower CBR than those suggested, the same or even higher final values are obtained.
WATERPROOF FLOORS
Perhaps the most characteristic behavior of soils treated with the SNS 360 System is the one that it presents in the face of humidity variations. The action of the NPF causes that there is no flow of water from or to the interior. Both products inhibit the flow of water due to capillarity and permeability.
If to all these behavioral characteristics already exposed we add the fact that the soil package treated with NPF behaves like a material that repels and does not allow the entry of water (capillary rise), its passage through it (permeability ), and avoids the loss of humidity. We are talking about a package that is kept in the best conditions in an unalterable form.
The only effect that the SNS 360 System does not contemplate is the abrasion produced by the action of traffic, therefore it is recommended to cover it with a layer of tread that does not have to be structural. In any case, there are situations where the type of soil and the traffic conditions allow that the road does not have a coating or has only a reinforced irrigation of primer.
TRADITIONALLY 315 TIPPERS TRUCKS PER KILOMETER OF ROAD ARE TRANSPORTED TO THE CONSTRUCTION SITE, WITH THE SNS 360 SYSTEM ONLY ONE PRODUCT TRUCK IS TRANSPORTED.
